Victoria is a natural junmping off location for kayaking both the Gulf Islands as well as the West Cooast of Vancouver Island

Comfortable Camping: Our expeditions prove that kayak camping trips to wilderness areas need not be uncomfortable nor be restricted to young people with stamina. The answer: we carry all our camping gear and supplies in our 47 foot Whaling Canoe (as well as all our paddlers, if need be).

camp chairs, ice.. tahey all make a difference our Giant Canoe anchored off Black Lake in Desolation Sound, east of Vancouver Island

Convenience & Safety: Our Giant Canoe mothership is able to take along all the things you have always wanted to on a kayak trip but couldn't. By eliminating the cumbersome task of packing and unpacking your kayak each day, you can expect to put at least 2 extra hours a day towards touring. coffee break- our Giant Canoe has been radiod to provide coffee and washroom services to the needy

Our Giant Canoe also adds a degree of safety to the tours, and enables us to cross the larger and sometimes less interesting stretches of open water with ease. Drawing less than a foot, our support vessel will also enable paddlers to do optional side trips by sail or by motor, most convenient when conditions are not suited for paddling. And finally, having a support vessel along also gives paddlers the chance to opt out of kayaking when tired, adding variety to their days' paddling routine.

Creature Comforts: Because of the large carrying capacity ofour "KayakMotherone of these days we will introduce a carousel to expeditite luggage transfers!ship", we can pamper our fellow adventurerswith extra thick mattresses, roomy  tents, comfortable camp chairs, steady tables,  sit-on toilet and other conveniences of "home".But sometimes as you can see below, peoplewill bring all their worldly possessions with them!

Having the room aboard to take along large coolers and ice is especially convenient, as we are able to supply fresh refrigerated food and drinks to our guests for the entire duration of our tours.

NON-PADDLING OPTION: Non paddlers (or those prefering to share a kayak) have the option of tagging along on the giant canoe while the others paddle. Activities available to non-paddlers include whale-watching, sailing instruction, fishing and crabbing, hiking or just loafing about on the boat or on-shore. Reduced prices are offered for "non-paddlers"..

DESIGN YOUR OWN ISLANDS CAMPING TOUR

Our giant Whaling Canoe can be chartered for camping trips of various lengths to paddling destinations of your own choosing. Rates vary greatly, depending on group size, length of tour, and whether we are required to supply all food, kayaks and equipment or only the guides.

the Coast Mountains provide a dramatic back drop to the Desolation sound kayaking area non paddlers enroute to the islands for a few days camping

With our Giant Canoe's 12 knot cruising speed, our range is considerable and whale-watching prospects are excellent during the summer months. Experienced guides and a Cook accompany all scheduled tours described above and our paddler to guide ratio does not exceed 5 to 1. We can take along enough kayaks using our Giant Canoe to accommodate up to 10 paddlers on our camping trips  — our Canoe admirably serving the role of a “Kayak Mothership”.
